Welcome To Iftin University Prep

Iftin is the Somalian term meaning enlightenment.  It is the goal of every Iftin staff member to bring enlightenment to every student that attends an Iftin School.

Iftin began when a community group wished to bring a quality K-8 school in the Normal Heights / City Heights areas of San Diego.

The academic achievement of Iftin K-8 exceeded expectations with their incredible test score gains based on the California S.T.A.R test.  The mantra “Enlightenment through academic rigor, cultural literacy, and compassion” proved to be successful beyond expectations.

The Iftin School Board was not willing to rest on its laurels and made the decision to petition San Diego Unified School District to create a high school that can build on the success of its predecessors.  In the Fall of 2009 a charter was granted for Iftin Charter High School.
